got a new little toy at the flea market yesterday.

It's a Polaroid P. The camera already had a film in it, but aparently for a really long time and the film doesn't expose correctly anymore but it seems to be working just fine. now I just have to get some new film. can't wait!!

it was one of the first apps I downloaded after I got my new ipod touch with camera and I was quite obsessed with it in the beginning but somehow that faded after a while. being as lazy as I am I often find myself wanting to take a picture (mostly at work in the Zoo) and not having my DSLR with me cause I didn't want to carry it. so the ipod has to do.

I'm really like the different filter Instagram offers and I'm also starting to like the imperfect picture the ipod produces - not totally sharp images, exposure is off and pictures are really grainy most of the time...but I've learned that it's all kind of the charme of those snapshots.

so from now on you can find the latest of my instagram pictures at the bottom of the page and if you click on "instagram feed" you can see all of them in one place

got three "new" old lenses from my grandpa since he was cleaning out his basement and doesn't need them anymore :) he's really spoiling me with all his old photography stuff! it's two 50mm lenses (Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f2.8 and another one I don't rememebr) and a zoom lens (Osawa 80-200mm f4.5).
naturally I had to take them with me to work and try them out and they are quite good as soon as you're used to the manual focus

finally caught a glimpse of the newest member of Zoo Schönbrunn. A "little" baby giraffe called Arusha!! she's actually not that little considering she was already taller than me when she was born ;)

well I guess compared to the other giraffes she's still tiny

new lens: Tokina 28mm f2.8

I went to a flea market last saturday and purchased an analog Tokina RMC 28mm f2.8 for only 8€ :) ordered an adapter as soon as I found out which mount it is so I could use it on my digital camera. Today it finally arrived, so naturally I used the trip to the library to test it out.

the guy at the photography store said it won't compare to a digital lens, which I already expected cause it's a third party lens and an adapter is necessary. so I thought those definitely won't benefit the quality of the pictures, but I think it's doing quite ok on my Olympus :) ESPECIALLY for the price I paid!!!

self portraits are a little hard and took quite some time since you have to focus manually...

also took my first steps into freelensing. takes some time to get it right and most of the shots are out of focus, but I'll definitely will try it again

will try it out in the Zoo the next time I work and will also try to get a proper pictures of the baby giraffe that's been born in Schönbrunn!!!

I rarely manage to see the Orangutans so I was very happy that they were outside this time.

and this is also one of those animals that's always really hidden, sitting in the tree where nobody can see it. gotta take advantage of their sleep time to take pictures ;)

the weather was great the last couple of days. we have around 20°C and sun, so I'm definitely enjoying that.

also some good news. some stores are finally selling Ben&Jerry's Ice Cream. Still ridiciously overpriced in my opinion but at least now I can treat myself to it every once in a while ;)

also I'm working at Zoo Schönbrunn again since saturday, so there are gonna be some zoo pictures in the future. for now you can enjoy some pigeons ;) I liked how they were sitting side by side and was fast enough to capture it

we had up to 25°C yesterday. one definite positive side of summer semester is that you can just lay in the sun in between lectures. or relocate studying from the library to campus or a park, which is what I did yesterday.

I managed NOT to get a sunburn, which is quite an accomplishment for me, since I pretty much always get one ;)

even with the sun setting it was still warm enough to just walk around with a shirt.

I really hope it stays this warm and doesn't get cold again.

got my developed film back yesterday.

they are far from perfect, the focus is off on some pictures and the pictures in general have a yellow-ish tone and have a lot of noise, but those (especially the focus and noise thing) are things I expected. and while they are not perfect, I kinda love the old film look they have.

since I'm definitely planning to explore the world of analoge photography more, I thought about a way to keep the costs for film and developing to a minimum. took me almost all day, but I've finally figured out how to convert a photographed color negative to a postive using PS. haven't perfected it yet, but the finished pictures are viewable ;) so yeah, that'll definitely save some money on picture developing

just for comparision, the store developed picture (rigth) and the photographed negative side by side.

they both have the pros and cons, but I kinda prefer the left one color wise.

it was my grandpa's birthday this weekend and I brought along the Voigtländer to try it out. showed it to him and he got out his (very) old cameras. since he doesn't use them anymore he gave them to me :D is that awsome or what!?
I got an old Canon Eos 700, which I remember form my childhood, from when my grandpa still used it to take pictures of us.
the other camera I got is a Balda Baldinette with a 50mm/f2,9.

it originally belonged to my great-grandfather, which just makes the camera more special for me. bought some film today and already shot one and took it to get developed.

I'm really curious to see how the pictures turned out, since I have neither a light meter nor a distance meter, so I pretty much had to guess both and it was all very experimental hehe

gonna post some pictures when they are developed and I get them scanned

first of all happy new year, everyone!! hope everyone had a good time doing whatever they did on new years eve :)

the end of 2010 also means the end of my first Project 365 and I'm proud to say that I actually managed to stick to it and take a picture everyday!! of course there were times where I almost forgot to take one or didn't feel like thinking about what to photograph, but somehow I managed to always find something.

one thing this project helped me with is to use my camera more, learn more about it and also try out some new stuff. may it be the use of an external flash or simply a self portrait I really had fun doing this project (at least for the most part ;))

so am I going to do it another year?
I'm planning on doing some kind of project, but not a 365 this time around. I'm thinking more of a 52 project, meaning one picture every week.
since project 365 was quite stressfull at some times and I'm planning to finish university this year, which is gonna be quite stressfull itself, I don't think I'd actually stick to one picture a day. and what's the point in starting something when you're already pretty sure you won't finish it. maybe next year again, but this year I'm gonna go with one per week. this way I can also avoid to just take a picture because I "have" to and have more time to actually think about what to photograph.

it's been snowing nonstop for the last two days. today was the first day that the sun came out a bit and it stopped snowing, so pretty much the perfect oppotunity to take some pictures

We got even more snow over the night and it's been snowing the entire day!!

I opted to walk today instead of using the tram (which didn't drive regularly anyway and you had to wait up to 45 minutes) and it was the perfect opportunity to take some pictures

I was a bit worried about my camera at first, cause it was quite windy and I didnt want her to get too wet. But so far she's still working, so I guess a little contact with snow is acceptable ;)

and I also got a new header as well as a new tag for my pictures. thought it was time to change it up a bit ;)

I haven't taken as many pictures as I wanted from Zoo Schönbrunn since I started working there, mainly cause I was just too tired to walk around and take shots after my shift.
But last weekend I was finally motivated enough and took my camera with me :)

he could not haved posed better. lay still the entire time I took pictures

my new favorites, the penguins...might have something to do with the fact that our booth is right across from them and I see them all day ;)

and the new star of the zoo, little Tuluba. He's still a little clumsy but so adorable :)

summer fun

went swimming today to escape this unbearable heat, thats really starting to get annoying. as much as I love summer, I could totally do with less then 35+ °C...especially during the night. there are supposed to be some storms tomorrow, so I'm hoping it'll bring along a little colder weather so I can finally sleep through one night again ;)

these were all taken with the 14-42mm. I'm really starting to enjoy that lens again, after putting it away for the most part since I got the 50mm. since that one is still broken, as I mentioned in the previous post, I'm rediscovering the awsomeness of the kitlens :)

we went swimming (though I definitely prefer a pool over a lake anytime!! especially when there are big fishes in it) played UNO, which I think is one of the few games you can't grow out of lol cooled down with some ice cream and, believe it or not, a hot coffee. that's really the only hot beverage I can drink no matter how warm it is outside ;)

and I'm slowly starting to remember that not all pictures have to be perfectly sharp or rightly exposed.
sometime a little imperfection is what makes a picture interesting ;) anyone agree?

hope everyone is enjoying summer. though its time to bring this time of the year to my blog too with some summery pictures :)

these were taken with the 35mm. the next one with the kit lens, cause my 50mm is off to get repaired. I've decided to look at it from the bright site and use this as an opportunity to use my other lenses more often.

I forgot what a good lens the 14-42mm is...may have to get that one out more often ;)

and I'm also in the proces of putting together a portfolio, which will probably consist of my own favorites for the most part. if you have any favorites yourself, I would love to know :)

mini-revamp and self portraits

okay, so I was in the mood for something new for my blog. nothing too drastic, cause I really like the simplicity of this template, but a little change was in order. I wanted to get rid of the sidebar for a long time, cause it was just too full for my liking, and I couldnt post the pictures bigger. so, as you see, the sidebar is gone now and you can find it on the left side, where it will slide out when you click on it :) I also got rid of the top menu bar. all things that were previously there you now also find in the new sidebar. The only new site is the "about me"-page, which I wanted to do for quite a while. the blogroll is a little on the plain side right now, so I may think of something for that.
I hope everyone likes the new look and if anyone has any problems please let me know :)

got a new toy to play around with :) since I'm planning to get the hang of my external flash I ordered a wireless flash trigger, so I dont have to put it on the camera all the time and be able to place the flash wherever I want.

haven't had time to try it our properly yet, but will get to it asap

and I also finally had some time to edit some more zoo pictures

I'm gonna be away form tomorrow till sunday. planning on taking lots of pictures, so there should be another update soon :)

went to the zoo today to take some pictures and to use my 70-300mm again after a long time of just laying around and not really getting used.
it still takes a bit to get used to it, cause compared to my e410 it is quite big and after a while your hand hurts, but I just love the zoom, which is especially useful in the zoo.
took almost 500 pictures, so it was hard to choose, but here are some of them ;)
may have to make another post with some more soon...

and my favortie from today, which is also my picture for today. it was just the perfect timing hehe only thing I dont like about it is that you can still see the traces of the fence

"capturing time" - photography class #1

first assignment for my photography class was due today. though he extended it till next week some, including me, already presented the pictures today. I may actually take a couple of more pictures till next week...we'll see :)
the theme of the assignment was "capturing time", so I tried out both short shutter speed and long ones. though I have to say I'm liking long exposure so much more for this theme.

this is I think the only picture with a short shutter speed from this series

now lets get to the long exposure pictures ;)
I'm loving the smoothness of the water you get with a longer exposure. this picture also gave me the oppurtunity to try out my b/w filter I got a while ago.

this was the first idea that came to my mind when I thought about how to capture time. both of them were taking in the late afternoon as the sun started to go down. one of a tram driving by and the other ones of the back lights of cars.

and my favorite from these pictures. a long exposure of an escalator. you can still see some traces of people on the sides of the pictures. and I'm really liking the b/w on this one

if anyone has any other ideas as to how "capture time"...any idea is welcomed :)

we went to "Haus des Meeres" today, cause we still had coupons we got as a christmas present.
it's pretty funny, that I've lived in this city my whole life and never been there before. so, naturally I took lots of pictures...so enjoy ;)

by far my favorite animals we saw there...the monkeys. they were running around all over the place and one ran by right beside my head hehe

I could have definitely done without the snakes and spiders thoug...

the hardest week so far

gotta say, this has been the hardest week of the project365 so far.
I've spent the whole week recovering from my wisdom tooth removal. it doesnt hurt as much anymore, but apparently the healing doesnt go as fast as its supposed to do and I have to take antibiotics now till at least tuesday. one good thing, the swelling is pretty much gone. I got another check up appointment tomorrow and then on friday to get the stitches out. lets hope thats it then.

wisdom tooth

well, I got my wisdom tooth pulled out today.
had to eat and drink a lot before the appointment, which didnt work out that well cause I rarely eat breakfast. so I had to force some food down. the procedure itself didnt really hurt cause I got a shot beforehand. now after shot stopped working...thats another thing. I tried to sleep off the pain for the most, which did not work, cause as soon as the shot stopped working I woke up from the pain.
thank god I got a prescription for pain killers from my dentist. right now it hurts to open my mouth, can't really chewing anything, so all I ate today after the tooth came out was applesauce and some soup. I've also put an icepack on it all through the afternoon cause its a bit swollen and seem to help with the pain a bit.
hope that gets better soon.

naturally todays picture had to do something with it, so here's the little sucker thats been torturing me for the last couple of weeks.

I also found my tooth box, where I keep all my milk teeth. its been a long time since I added a tooth in that box lol

I finished my first month today. this week was a bit harder than last week, cause I had several days where I had absolutely no idea as to what to photograph. and I was also sick the last couple of days, so there was less motivation to look for inspiration. but I managed, and thats what important, right?

changed a few things around the blog, mainly the sidebar. it was getting too long for my liking, so I removed a couple of things ;) you can now find the archive and the tags by clicking on the link in the top menu. and I added some social site buttons to the left so you dont have to look around for too long if you wanna find them. and I also added a tweet button at the top of each post, since I'm not quite sure if I'm gonna stick with the bookmark bar at the bottom of the posts.

okay, so it's been a little over a week into the project 365 and I have to say its not that easy lol but the good thing is I use my camera everyday and make more pictures than in the past, where I sometimes went days or even weeks without taking any pictures. so I really hope this project will help me to improve my skills and learn some new stuff.

Happy New Year everyone!!! Hope everyone had a great time, doing whatever you were doing :)

I got back from my trip out of town yesterday. had a great time, although I was hoping for a little snow. we had a patch here and there, but nothing compared to last year :/ I'm gonna post some pics from the trip as soon as I went through them all

I also realised that I havent gotten a good shot of our christmas tree yet. I'm gonna have to change that in the next couple of days :) but for now some deatil shots of our tree

and in other picture news, I decided to do the 365 project. you know, where you take a picture everyday of the year. dont know how long I'm gonna last, but I'll really TRY to stick to it. that may actually be good for keeping this blog updated ;) you can check out the pictures on my flickr account

like I said in the previous post I was planning to make some other cookies, and I actually stuck to it.

I kept it simple and made some cut-out butter cookies with frosting and sprinkles on top.

and as for the chrismtas goodies. I got a remote control for my camera!!! wasnt even all that expensive.
haven't tried it out properly yet, just some test shots. and I'm already loving it!!

I've seen some pretty amazing bokeh shots around the web, so I tried out some stuff too.

I tried out some heart bokeh pictures. build myself a hood with a heart shaped in it I put infront of the lens and started to shoot.

not a 100% happy with them, but I think for the first time trying they turned out ok.

it's officially christmas time on my blog. one month till christmas is not that bad, right?

one (of the many) thing(s) I absolutely love about christmas markets...you get a beautiful bokeh!!

today I went to the christmas market in front of the city hall since I always have some time during lectures and its right next to the university.

while there are some booths that have absolutely nothing to do with christmas (like soccer tricots) there are some pretty things that would work well as a christmas present.
and no christmas market is complete without candy and junk-food...and of course lots of punch (this time I tried the orange punch...very good)

I've got some more photos from today that I have yet to edit, so there will be more pictures very soon ;)

I'm so not getting along with all that temparture change. yesterday we had about 11/12 °C, today it dropped to 5°C. guess its really starting to get cold.

hmm, wonder if these lanterns we have in the garden are gonna survive the winter...

I've switched the dropdown menu to a newer version, so it should work in all browsers now. If anyone has any problems with it, please let me know :)

first try at self portraits

photographing people is really not something I've done all that much in the past, except for snapshots. thought its time to change that, and what better way to start, then with yourself ;)

first I tried to just hold the camera at arm length...well turns out my arm is too short cause I just got really close close-ups. didn't like them too much. then I tried it in front of a mirror, and while I'm still not totally happy with the pictures I got, there was one that I really liked.

don't ask me why. I mean you can't really see my face all that well, but I dunno, it kinda has something to it that I like.

and some "out-takes" on the left, just for fun ;)

I'm thinking about getting a remote control for my camera...will probably make taking self portraits easier :)

minor layout change

okay, so I wasn't 100% happy with the layout I had, cause the sidebar was too full for my liking. so I looked trough the internet for a solution. I found an instruction, where you can get a drop down menu bar, which helped to get rid of some sidebar stuff.
I now have the copyright and the (updated) photography bag in the drop down bar. the favorite sites I think I will leave on the sidebar too, cause its easier to keep track of updates. I thought I might leave the ones I don't want to miss an update from on the side and in the drop down menu I put others I also like, but don't follow regularly.

like it or hate it?
me, I like it so far, but knowing me I'll probably find something else that bugs me pretty soon hehe

for those, who like the drop down bar and also want one, I found the instruction here ;)

and I also changed the tag list to a more "cloudy" one, cause the old one was too neat for my liking

see, I'm really making an effort to blog more often hehe
with uni starting, I haven't had all that much time to take pictures, but I was looking through the pictures on my camera, and came across some I took right after I got the 50mm lens.

trying out some different angles is always fun and I wanted to know if the 50mm would also be good for macro pictures

with flowers I'm never sure, weither I like them better in color or b/w

I think it all depens on the flower itself. as much as I love b/w pictures, I think in this case I'm gonna go with color

this coming sunday its the end of summertime, which means we have to change all the clocks for one hour. good thing is we're gonna gain one hour, stupid thing is that its gonna get dark sonner than already. not a big fan of that for many reasons, one of them being thats its gonna suck for taking pictures in the afternoon.

but getting out all the candles, is definitely one good thing ;)

edit: hmm, looking at the pitures in firefox they look a little over-edited...they looked fine in PS :/

the weather...not so much. its still way too warm for this time of the year, which is not necessarily a bad thing but I'm really looking forward to getting out the hats and scarfs.

well, I guess I'll keep walking around in the garden barefoot and taking pictures of the beautiful red coloring. or is the green prettier?

well better late than never. I finally got around to edit some pictures from my birthday.

I got lots of goodies, including some money, H&M coupons, self made jam and, last but certainly not least, a new lens for my olympus!!! which one you ask? I'm now the proud owner of a zuiko 50mm. haven't tried it out properly yet, except for some test shots, but I already love it

I think this one was actually shot with the 50mm. Had to work on it in PS a lot cause it was too dark, so the quality suffered a bit. But still, love how the background is all blurry.

as you can see I totally revamped my blog. I wanted to get something wider, so I can post my pictures bigger and not always behind a link.

The header is pretty much just a provisory one, cause I didnt have one that fit the width of the blog. I'm planning to change that to someting more fallish soon. as some know, I'm now the proud owner of a zuiko 70-300mm. Haven't had time to try it out properly yet, cause of work and uni, but after next friday I should have more time :)

so, since I haven't had time during the day I've been waiting for a cloudless night, to get a great moon shot, cause believe me the moon shots I've seen with that lens are freakin awsome!!
mine didn't turn out as great as the ones I've seen cause it hasn't been totally cloudless, but hey definitely better than with my kit lens ;)

and since the weather sucked most of the time in the last couple weeks, I also did some indoor shooting featuring water (once again hehe)

since the weather these days could be better and it's freezing outside, I spent the whole day inside today and thought that would be a great opportunity for some new pictures ;)

I got out of the city in the search for a little snow, since we barely get it here.

we dared each other to jump over this little river. I was a little hesitant first, cause I had the camera and my shoes didn't have the best profile. but after I heard my mom tell me not to do it, I really didn't have any other choice other than do it, right? ;)

okay, so I hope everyone had a fantastic christmas with your family. ours was great but also quite exhausting.

24th december

me and my brother decorated the tree, while my mom and her bf went grocery shopping.
to see the tree look at the previous post ;)
in the late afternoon we had our christmas dinner...steak with potatoes and a salad. YUM

after that it was time for the presents :)

I opened them first cause we started with the youngest hehe well I gotta have some advantages for being the youngest, right?
I got a new battery for my laptop, a nightstand, 5th season of nip/tuck and a few other things

after we opened all the presents we went to the parents of my mom's bf to celebrate with them
I got a nice new scarf...it's all soft :)

25th december
on the 25th we went to lunch with my mom's bf's family and then to his brother.

26th december
we went to my grandparents place. it's pretty much the same routine every year. we get there at around 10am, then sit together, tell each other what we got for christmas, eat a few cookies. and wait till my grandfather sneaks out of the room to light the candles of the tree and ring a bell.
then we sing a few christmas songs and off to the presents hehe

wanna guess what I got? AN EXTERNAL FLASH FOR MY OLYMPUS!!! pretty cool, huh? I got a Metz 48 AF-1. YAY for photography stuff!!!

and just to show you, WE HAD SNOW!! well it's not a lot but still, better than nothing. the thing I'm holding is pretty much it lol

one thing I always loved about christmas were all the delicious cookies you get to eat. when I was a kid me and my brother always baked some with my mom, but that stopped as we got older. so right now, I'm pretty much the only one that bakes at this time of the year.

the first ones I made were chocolate-peanutbutter cookies...with lots of sugar lol believe me you can't eat more then 3 or 4 or you get sick. well at least that's how it is with me...not so much with my brother lol

I was actually just planning on doing just the one kind, but ended up doing some simple butter cookies too

I remember doing those same cookies with my brother and mother when we were kids

and of course we always fought, who could lick those clean lol good thing there are two of them

and this is what they look like now. well not all of them, I just decorated some of them and left the rest the way it was.

christmas shopping

I'm pretty much done with christmas shopping, and believe me that's like major for me since I'm always a last minute shopper lol but since I have to work till the 23rd I thought it might get too stressfull

got a book for my brother and my mom's boyfriend. just hope my brothers doesn't have it already. I'm gonna keep the bill thoug, just in case.

for my mom I have some scarfs since she takes mine, which is a major pain in the ass. at first I wanted to give her all three of them, but I think I'm gonna keep the green one for me lol it's such a nice color

the only ones I'm still not sure about are my grandparents. I was thiking maybe to give them some pictures I took with the tripod my grandpa gave me. Since they were the first ones I used the tripod for I thought it might be a good idea.

went to a christmas market today. my first one this year...well actually the third one but the first two where just walking through on the way to uni and home so they don't really count. didn't even have a camera with me those time, so I see this one as my first lol

christmas markets are one of the main thing I look forward at this time of the year.

even when I'm not in the christmas feeling yet, I alway get into it when I walk around at one of those markets and drink some mulled wine and eat all kind of unhealthy food.

these two aren't totally sharp, but I still kinda like them. they show the dynamic you can see on a chritmas market with all the people and stuff.

I'll probably go take my camera to another christmas market, so there may come some more christmasy pictures ;)

got a tripod about a week ago and finally got around to try it out.
so I got out my incense sticks, set everything up and I have to say I quite like how it turned out.

so I ran it trough it and added some color to it, cause I wasn't all satisfied with the black/white

ok, so I've been playing around with different settings on my camera lately and totally fell in love with the black/white setting.
we had a family thing last weekend, which was just the perfect opporunity to try it out :)

I really like this one. dunno why, I mean it's just a cup of coffee and the cup's not even all clean. but somehow with the black/white and the contrast being not that harsh, it kinda did it to me

wow, it's been a while since I last posted something. well, just so you now I haven't forgotten about my bolg, just haven't had time to use my camera and take some pictures.

but today I went for a walk in the woods with my family and I thought I'd use that opportunity to take some fall pictures.

I would have liked the leaves to be more redish, cause that just makes autumn as awsome as it is.
but this year we seem to have just yellow, green or browinsh colors :/

these were taken with my new macro lense btw. haven't had all that mucht tim to try it out, so they're far from perfect, but don't worry, I'll get the hang of it lol

golden wedding

last weekend the parents of my moms bf celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with just the closest family. first we went to a church and afterwards to a restaurant.

I think it's pretty amazing to see a couple that has been married that long and is still happy with eachother. the only other couples I know that already had their golden wedding are my grandparents and the sister of my grandmother.

I was in charge of taking pictures of their anniversary, and I have to say that I had some troubles getting good pictures at the church. the light was just horrible and it was too dark. so I had to use a longer exposure which resulted in a lot of pics that weren't all sharp :/ plus they all looked very yellow. well what would we do without photoshop, eh ;)

still not perfectly happy with them, but I think they are not that bad, considering that I'm horrible at taking pictures of people

garden pictures

haven't posted pictures in a while so I thought it's about time for an update.

since it's supposed to get a lot colder next week I took the chance to take some pictures in our garden, starting from apples to tomatos and pepper. gotta love it when it's time to harvest all the things you've planted in your garden...well ok my mom planted it, but I watered it :)

that was the only carrot that was growing even though we planted way more than one.

yestersay I went to the filmfestival that's in town with my mom and brother

they had all kind of different stations where they sold food from all around the world. chinese, japanese, taiwanese spanish food. there was pretty much everything you want

in the evening they show all kinds of different films and operas

danube tower

yesterday me, my brother, my mom, her boyfriend and his parents took a trip to the danube tower. this tower is one of the tallest buildings of vienna (...I think lol) and you have an amazing view over the whole city from the top. of course I used that opportunity to get some great shots.

it's pretty expensive, I think in my entire live I've only been ther 3 or 4 times. so it's always something special :)

and we even managed to see the sunset . this picture would definitely be my new favorite if it wasn't for the dirty window I had to take it through

I alsmost missed this one. it was on our way out and I was looking at the pics I took, when I suddenly saw something colorfull on the ground...glad I did hehe of course it took me ages to get my brother not to stand in the way

afterward we went to the cafe that's also in the tower and had some coffee.

it's such a cool cafe cause its rotating and that way you always have a different view of vienna

holiday pictures : Anger

so like I said in the last post there are gonna be lots of pictures and here they are. and believe me, it's really a lot of pictures lol

1st day

okay, the first day wasn't really all that interesting. you know the usually stuff. get up early so you don't have too much traffic. ariving at the hotel, checking in unpack and that kind of stuff

the weather was really great, though a little too hot for my liking, but I managed to get some great shots of the cloudy sky
and believe me it's not that easy to get shots, while the car is moving really fast ;)

anyway, I thought I could just relax on the first day, but nope. my grandpa already had plans for the afternoon, so we took a bike tour, they did sometime between now and the last time we went there. I think all in all it were about 25 km.

I loved all the flowers that we saw on the way there and back.

that was pretty much the first day.
at the evening we played "Schnapsen", which was pretty cool, cause I haven't played it for a long time and still love it.

2nd day

the second day started with getting up at 8am :/ and a breakfast buffet. the things I don't like about buffets is that you always eat way to much even though you don't plan it. somehow it always happens lol

after the breakfast we drove to a "barefoot park"

you pretty much go in a round barefoot and there are all kind of different stations. for ecample you have to go on sand or stones or have to keep your balance and that kind of stuff - all of that you do barefoot

my personal favorite was the station, where you have to go trough mud

so much fun, though my pants did get pretty dirty lol

there is also one part, where you have to go trough a little river, and I took that chance to try out some different shutter speed settings on my camera to see the difference

personally I like the first one better, cause the water seems more smooth

I was kind of impressed that my grandparents did all of those stations at their age. lets just hope that I'll be just as fit when I'm their age.

and here's a picture of me behind the wheel...the first time after about two years lol

on the afternoon we just stayed at the hotel and relaxed a little in the sun.

3rd day

on the 3rd day we made another bike tour. unfortunately it started raining on our way back, which was, according to my grandma, of course my grandpas fault. cause well, my grandma just likes to blame him lol even if she doesn't mean it

in the afternoon we drove to a little alpine pasture we went to every year when we took the trip

and there was this cute little cat, though she was a little camera shy, so I'm happy I got at least one good shot lol

4th day

this day we went to a summer bobsleigh, which was just awsome and a nice variety from all the other stuff we did so far.
my grandparents didn't want to ride so I gave my grandma a crash course in how to take pictures with my camera, and I think for the first time she did pretty good.

in the afternoon my mom, her boyfriend and my aunt and uncle visited us and stayed for one night.

this afternoon we drove to a lake way up in the mountains and went around there some time

the best part though was, when I tried out a "Segway". anyone ever rode with one? if so, then you know how awsome it is, and I really hope I'll get to do it again sometime

and that would be me totally reliving my childhood lol

5th day

my grandparents went to church in the morning, and since I never go to church at home I didn't really see the point going there, so I stayed at the hotel and had a second breakfast with my mom and her bf cause they got up later than us.

after church we took a little walk through town, nothing major or overly exhausting lol

in the afternoon we went to the "barefoot park" again, cause our visitors wanted to take it too.

in the evening we tried out the swimming pool, which was way too warm for my liking, and the wellness area the hotel has now. very cool

6th day / last day

the last day was all about relaxing. right after breakfast we drove to a lake and stayed there all day.
I tried to make a panorama in ps out of 5 pictures, and I think for the first try it turned out pretty good.

it was a pretty cool day. we played minigolf and drove out on the lake with a pedal boat

and I don't know whether it was the chlorine in the pool or the fresh air, but my hair got WAY too curly/wavy for my liking :/

so that was pretty much it. and I told you, LOTS of pictures, and if you actually looked your way until here I'm really impressed lol

alrighty, time for another post, since it's been awhile

in regard of the last post, I eventually went with the lemon and the kiwi one, and kept the one with the two kiwis for me heh.
though I did bring all the pics I took, in case my mom wants another fruit, which she did not. but my grandfather saw looked at them too and he also wanted some, so it was very good I brought them with me lol

so here are some new pictures. they are pretty much just random ones and don't really have a theme.

this ones pretty much just happened cause I had a craving for gummi bears and cause I was bored lol

took these pictures, cause I wanted a new header for my journal with bright colors

and this shot happened, cause I was looking through an board for dslr photography and thought it looked really cool with the heart and all. so I tried it too

and one of me and my new haircut, well not really new more like semi-new. I just cut it a little shorter in the front and on the side, cause I don't like it when all hair is pulled back.
yeah still not sure if I like it that way, but it looks better when my hair is straightend out

so that was it for now.
I'm going on holidays tomorrow, so there will be lots of pictures when I get back ;)

okay, so I'm still working on my mother's birthday present and I'm still not sure which picture to pick BUT i've already narrowed it down to three combinations. I figuerd out why I didn't like the lemon ones. it was cause the water was too dark compared to the kiwi one, so I lightened it up a bit and it looks way better this way.

so here are the combinations I've picked.
I'm kinda leaning towards the third one, though the one with both the kiwi pictures looks kinda cool too, cause they are not all that similar.

it was my mom's boyfriend's dad's birthday party (wow that was hard lol) yesterday. we had really luck with the weather cause it was all sunny, while today it's raining all day
anyway, of course I took some pictures

as most family parties most of the time is spent eating lol after the meal we went back home and had dessert there. the best part were the bubbles.

it always amazes me how something so simple can be so much fun

no matter how old you are (that's the birthday "kid" btw)

and I even managed to get one sharp bubble picture hehe

it's been a while since my last entry, so it's really time for a little update :)

I've seen those kind of pictures where people throw a piece of fruit in the water and snap the water splash a lot on the internet. and I always thought you'd have to have a tripod to get any good one, but since laura did one of those pictures too and told me that she didn't use one, I thought I'd give it a try
I'm not entirely satisfied with the result. dunno why, I guess I always find something I don't like at my own pictures, but I think they aren't that bad for the start.
I think I took about 300 pictures and out of those I had just a couple that were useful.

at first I tried it with a kiwifruit, but it didn't really work as good as with the strawberries. I'm gonna try it with some other fruits the next time, so there'll probably come more pictures like those ;)

recently I've been eating all kinds of sweet things. the sweeter the better lol

who else loves donuts? seriously I just love them. I haven't eaten some in like two years, cause they don't sell them here everywhere. BUT some time ago I was wandering through the supermarket looking for a lunch and there I saw them. I'm telling you I almost ate all of them at once ;)

another thing that's really yummy and quite good when its that hot inside are milkshakes. you have no idea how good a nutterbuttershake is. I actually was gonna go for an oreoshake, but they didn't had oreo cookies anymore :(

I'm not sure which one I like more. the nutterbuttershake from the coffe shop or the vanilla frappucino from starbucks lol

Euro 2008

as some may know, the euro2008 takes place in aurstia and switzerland right now. well, yesterday there was a big game, austria vs. germany. long story short austria unfortunately lost 0:1 which means the euro is over for them :(

since I kinda expected that it ends that way (of course I was hoping austria would win) I took that opurtunity to watch austrias last game in the fanzone vienna with my brother. I was pretty sure there would be a lot of people but I didn't expect there to be THAT many. according to the media there where about 72.000 people!!!
anyway, of course I had my camera with me and took some pictures ;)
